Chelsea showed strong character to come down from two goals and beat Southampton 3-2 at the St Mary’s.
Goals from Olivier Giroud and Eden Hazard cancelled out efforts from Dusan Tadic and Jan Bednarek, before substitute Giroud completed the turnaround with 15 minutes remaining.
During the game, there was an incident that could have earned Marcos Alonso a red card as he stamped on Shane Long, but central referee Mike Dean didn’t react to it.
Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher claims Dean did not see the incident and believes Alonso will be punished for his action.
“I think he’s too close, I don’t think he had the right angle,” he told Sky Sports.
“He clearly hasn’t seen it, otherwise he’d give a foul.
“We’ve all seen it, we’ve judged it as a red card offence.”
