With the season just six games from its end, the obvious reality is that it’s been a largely underwhelming campaign for Chelsea. One major talking point was on the club’s scattergun approach in the transfer market that was frustrating for manager, Antonio Conte. Talks of the club embarking on a summer overhaul have been making the rounds in the media. Without mincing words, Chelsea really do need to make changes to the playing staff that would hopefully spark the team into life next season. I’ll propose one attacker, one midfielder and one defender.

Just in case the club may need my help, here are 5 players that would ideal for the club.

LEON BAILEY:

The talented Jamaican-born Bayern Leverkusen winger is the kind of player needed at Chelsea. The left-footed and fleet-footed wing wizard is an amazing dribbler with pace and a direct style of style that could leave jaws dropping in awe. At 21, the rising star represents good value and Chelsea would have to act fast to seal his signature before other interested clubs.

The Nice midfielder is a perfect Chelsea type of midfielder with stamina, power, brain and brawn. His versatility to play in both deep holding midfield and further forward makes him a juicy prospect for a summer addition to the Chelsea squad. With a release cause in the region of £35m and at the prime age of 26, Seri might be the perfect player to partner Kante in a new midfield partnership for next season.

The Dutch International’s Lazio contact is up this summer making him a free agent. He is a versatile defender and team leader with good performances to crown his time at Lazio. At age 26, he surely fits the profile for Chelsea recruitment of being young, experienced and in his prime, especially with Gary Cahill and David Luiz in their 30s’. To sweeten the deal, no transfer fee will be required to get him and this makes a lot of sense.

Share your thoughts in the comment box on other players that could possibly fit in at the club. Cheers!
