Barcelona star Andres Iniesta has been a doubt for Wednesday’s Champions League match against Chelsea having suffered a hamstring injury that made him miss Barcelona’s last two games.
The Barca legend returned to training on Monday, and Barca boss Ernesto Valverde is adamant that he’s unsure if the midfield king will be fit enough to play Chelsea.
Antonio Conte has admitted that he wants the midfield maestro to play in Wednesday night’s all important second leg clash.
Conte said: “We are talking about a great player. I have great admiration for Andres Iniesta. For him and for the players who created the history of Barcelona: I’m talking about Pique, about Busquets… they have many great players with great talent.
“Iniesta is a genius of football. I like to compare him with Andrea Pirlo. We are talking about a genius, a genius with a football. I don’t know if tomorrow he could play (or not), but I think, in this type of game, it’s right to face the best players, and not hope that they could miss out through injury.”
