Chelsea were heading towards a 1-0 win against Barcelona before Lionel Messi’s second half equaliser from a Chelsea defensive mistake ensured Ernesto Valverde’s side holds the advantage heading into the return match in a fortnight’s time at the home of the runaway La Liga leaders.

Cesc Fabregas was part of a Chelsea midfield that were so strong against Barcelona and restricted the Blaugrana to just two shots on target.

However, Fabregas was unhappy with the fact that Chelsea had to sit deep for most of the game as Barcelona enjoyed over 70 percent of the possession.

Fabregas said after the game: “To spend 90 minutes there defending can be a long 90 minutes. It can be an eternity.  You have to go there to attack we have to feel we can hurt them.

“Defending for 90 minutes is a suicide mission we have to have personality and play our game.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.

I disagree with Fabregas. When you need to press your opponent you fail to do it. Yes he is very good passer of the ball but that is not the only duty or work you have to do in the game. Even the defensive mistake that resulted in the goal we conceded, Fabregas should have intercepted the ball but was not quick to do that. He should not blame his coach. How many 50-50 ball did he won. It was Kante who was doing all the pressing work at the midfield. We were just unlucky.

  2. Fabregas is talking nonsense, how many tackles did you win for your club? You want Chelsea to attack so that Barcelona will defeat Chelsea. Anyway i don’t blame you.

  3. Fabregas is just another player for his former club Barcelona, he was not that impressive in the game. If you really analyse the game, he was not even after the ball, although Christianson make a bit mistake but Fabregas should intercepted that play but he forgot himself altogether

  4. Fabregas is right. If you are a chelsea fan with high blood pressure, you are going to get an heart attack because of the defensive football chelsea was playing. Chelsea have good players. Barcelona have a weak defends.

What nonsense is Fabregas was saying? Which impact did he make even at d defence? For me I love d way Chelsea played

  6. Fibreglass the goal scored was your fault infact, u should have intercepted that ball, besides defensive play is the best way to play Barcelona coz they always have the ball so the best u have to do is defend.

what i can say is that chelsea played a fantastic game tonight willian missed two great chances 1st half which would enabled chelsea stand a chance of winning the match and for game I cant support fabregas because for team like barca we need to defend to avoid conceding many goals.

Certain Barcelonane was too friendly with Chelsea on its away match. Guess they will explode as Chelsea will need to score as and win in the field before qualifying

  9. You are right
The only thing Fabregas does, is to pass the ball.
    He can’t run or tackle

  10. Fabregas is not serious so he wanted Chelsea to open the game for baca to score many goes, kudos to conte and his boys farbregas himself was not in the game with one mind.

  11. Fabregas is so correct… You can seat deep in your own half and wait for them to come to you. That’s simple psychology, they’ll believe they can intimidate you. We have the players to hold unto possession hence we should have been more aggressive moving forward. I wish I had the direct opportunity to talk some sense into Contes head. DON’T, DO NOT play Hazard as a 9. He’s better playing a free role, he’s a player that should run into the defence and create problems for them and not someone who can win area balls from goal kicks, Corners etc. Morata should have played all 90 minutes, supported by Willian and Hazard. You can sub Fabregas for Pedro since he’s fast with the ball and can initiate fast breaks connecting the midfield and attack. If I give Chelsea tactics for their next 5 games… They’ll atleast win 3 and draw 1 as the worst possible outcome of not win all. Football is mathematics… it needs brainbwork.

  12. U ple said u have hazard,why didn’t u open and play @ur home.wat re u now going to do Barcelona home.bus parkers#

For me I’m bleaming conte for the draw he needed a striker in the game ,hazard needed to play his right role on the right wing if u play hazard as u play hazard as a false 9 u can really get his best performance. As it relates to the goal Christianse should be blamed along with fabrigas they two made the mistake that lead to the goal scored by messi. But I’m with the strong convection the Chelsea can qualified over Barcelona on cam nu.

    I agree with you,100%,u can’t defend for 90mins,

  15. The only way to defeat Barcelona at the comp is by not allowing them to play their usual game. Chelsea has to be quick on the ball. Defend and attack quickly. Never to allow them to dictate the game for us.

  16. Chelsea have a game style to every team they play, I think defensive ball is d only way they survive Barcelona! It work before, may b it will work again.
