Ramires was a fan favourite during his time at Chelsea having joined the club in 2011 under Carlo Ancelotti.

The Brazilian will famously be remembered for the goal he scored against Barcelona in the Champions League semifinals enroute Chelsea’s run to winning the Champions League in 2012.

Chelsea host Barcelona in the first leg of our Champions League last-16 tie next Tuesday, and the Chelsea magazine caught up with the man who scored one of the most memorable Chelsea goals of all time the last time we faced the Spanish side.

Ramires won practically every piece of silverware available during his time at Stamford Bridge, but unsurprisingly it is our European exploits of 2012 which make him most proud, including his remarkable chip at Camp Nou.

“I received the ball, then I passed it to Lampard and I started to run,” Ramires reminisces as he tells Chelsea magazine.

“Their defence was not that compact, so I ran through the middle. Lampard saw this, he took away Mascherano and saw me, so he passed me the ball. I ran and ran and then I saw Valdes coming and I knew I had one thing I could do to score a goal – to put the ball over him. I was so happy with my finish and it was an amazing goal.

“After I chipped it, I went to celebrate but I had to look again to make sure it had gone into the back of the net! When I saw it touching the net, I ran to celebrate and I could only hear our fans. The stadium was quiet, but our fans were screaming. That was a good feeling for me.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
