Chelsea’s first three points in 2018 ended in an emphatic 4-0 win over Brighton. An Eden Hazard brace and a goal apiece for Willian and Victor Moses sealed the victory for Chelsea against the Premier League newbie.
Here are 3 match talking points from the game:
CHELSEA BACK TO WINNING WAYS:
It has long been expected for Chelsea to win a game in the new year. A brilliant performance from the team can at least ease both the tension and pressure from the media and the supporters who booed during last weekend’s barren draw against Leicester City. An improved performance with four goals scored should be able to appease the fans and help our chances of securing Champions League football for next season.
CHELSEA ATTACKERS ENJOY BEAUTIFUL GAME:
The sound bites prior to the game was buzzing about Chelsea’s alarming form in the new year with five draws from five and a paltry 3 goals to mention. Suspensions to Alvaro Morata and Pedro Rodriguez had many wondering where the goals would come from against Brighton. The perfect response was four goals. With the first two scored six minutes into the game by Hazard and Willian. With two arriving in the second period from mercurial playmaker Hazard, and Moses wrapping things up with a fine finish after being teed up by academy sensation, Charly Musonda. Also, a morale-boosting performance from Michy Batshuayi also caught the eye. Today, Chelsea’s attackers were awake, alive and on fire.
WILLIAN A BRIGHT STAR FOR CHELSEA:
The Brazilian’s current form is good music to both Chelsea fans and his manger, Antonio Conte. A brilliant display of finesse, industry, dazzling skill set, amazing movement on and off the ball and delicious passing were all a delight to watch. Willian deserves to be in Chelsea’s starting eleven in this form and surely staked a claim to it with a beautiful goal to double Chelsea’s lead.
Let’s hope for the best. Cheers!
