Chelsea’s start to 2018 has been below expectations with five draws in five games recorded in normal time. Having seen his team drop from third to fourth in the league, Conte will surely be working out strategies to get them out of their current slump.

Herr are three (3) blogging questions for Chelsea ahead of our game against Brighton:

CAN CHELSEA RETURN TO WINNING WAYS?

Five draws in five games sounds more like the form of a relegation-battling team than that of the Premier League defending Champions. Chelsea obviously are in a rut and the necessity to return back to winning ways is now a must. On paper, our game against the Premier league new boys is winnable, but the extra dimension to it is that we cannot afford to drop more points. Draw or lose against Brighton and we risk losing further grounds in the battle for a Champions League place and in our very slim hopes of overhauling City. All eyes will surely be on our match against the Seagulls as we attempt to arrest our slide. Let’s keep our eyes on this.

WHICH TACTICAL PLAN WILL CONTE USE?

One bad outcome of Chelsea’s FA Cup third round replay match against Norwich was the suspensions of striker, Alvaro Morata and winger, Pedro Rodriguez. Chelsea’s discipline this season has been an issue with quite of a number of players receiving suspensions. The questions now are: Which tactical plan will Conte play this weekend? 3-4-3 or 3-5-2? Will Conte play Batshuayi or Hazard upfront? Will Conte drop Bakayoko for Drinkwater? Will Barkley finally make his debut? It will be interesting to see Conte’s answers to these tactical issues.

WILL CHELSEA FINALLY FIND THEIR LETHAL SCORING TOUCH?

Prior to the game against Norwich, Conte warned that his team is due thrashing an opposition. Here are his words:

“In every training session we try to improve our players’ finishing. Maybe a game will arrive when you score a lot of goals, when you shoot and you score.

“At the moment we are shooting 20, 25 times in one game but we are not scoring.”

Chelsea fans are eagerly anticipating the moment the team turns up to entertain them to goals galore. With Brighton next to play, will the team fire up the goals to properly kick-start our year with a resounding win? Let’s find out!

Let’s keep the blue flag flying high. Cheers!
