Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen would be going to the World Cup in Russia next summer after helping Denmark win 5-1 at Ireland after a goalless draw at Denmark. Christensen was an unused substitute in the first-leg of the tie but returned to the starting lineup in the decisive second-leg, playing as a right-back.
Christensen had a hand in Denmark’s first goal just before the half-hour which brought the Danes back into the game after Ireland had taken an early lead.
Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu made his full Wales debut in a friendly international in Cardiff against Panama. Ampadu earned his first Wale’s cap in the previous game against France.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek made his second England start in the friendly draw against Brazil on Tuesday night but it didn’t end well for the 21-year-old midfielder after he picked up an injury and had to be substituted after just 34 minutes.
Ola Aina, currently on loan at Hull City, made his second start as Nigeria won Argentina 4-2. Aina played the first half for the Super Eagles. Chelsea loanee Kenneth Omeruo played the final half-hour. Former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi captained Nigeria.
Toni Rudiger was introduced at half-time in place of Mats Hummels as Germany drew 2-2 with France in an international friendly.
Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata was an unused substitute in Spain’s 3-3 draw away in Russia. Former Chelsea player Yury Zhirkov assisted a goal for the Russians.
Thibaut Courtois stayed on the bench and Eden Hazard and Michy Batshuayi were not involved in Belgium’s 1-0 friendly win against Japan.
Chelsea loanee Marco van Ginkel came on in the second half as Netherlands won Romania 3-0.
