Another entertaining game but with highs and lows, let’s do a review of Chelsea’s 3-3 draw with Roma:
CHELSEA ARE CLINICAL STILL UNCONVINCING:
For the large spells of the game, the match was controlled by Roma, and with the Chelsea players left to chase shadows. The lack of team chemistry was obvious as the team couldn’t get a grip on the game. Roma’s greater ball possession and dictation of play sums up the issues Chelsea and Conte are faced with.
The conceding of goals by the Chelsea defence was embarrassing. Roma’s first and third goals were absolutely defendable, while their second was more of a team error to close down players on the ball. The razz defending by the players gives a clear view of Chelsea’s issues being more about the players’ attitude and fitness rather than injury crisis. The squandering of a two goal lead was not encouraging in any way.
CHELSEA AND CONTE’S OPTION LIMITED:
The injuries are seriously mounting for Chelsea and Conte with replacement options quite limited and not up to speed. Conte’s loud cries during the summer for a larger squad fell on deaf ears and now the Italian’s job has been made more difficult. The reality check means Chelsea might struggle to compete against rivals with bigger and better squads. Sadly enough, all Chelsea and Conte can do now is to find a quick fix to issues or suffer the consequences of a failed summer transfer.
Let’s hope for the best. Cheers!
