Manchester City currently sit top of the Premier League, just ahead of neighbours and cross-town rivals Manchester United on goal difference.
The Blues are six points behind the Manchester clubs and Chelsea legend Graeme Le Saux has revealed that while City and United are the league’s favourites, Chelsea cannot be ruled out.
Le Saux said: “I said at the beginning of the season that I thought both Manchester clubs would be fighting it out at the top and I still think Man City just edge it.
“That being said all the top clubs are in with a shout.
“And I think the key factor is how they manage their squads during periods when some of their ‘irreplaceable’ players are injured or suspended.
“I look at Fernandinho as a key example for City as he’s probably their best defensive-minded midfielder and would be, for me, hard to replace.
“Chelsea are a team that have a real resilience and mental toughness though and that will always see them there or thereabouts come the end of the season.
“And I do think that if [Alvaro] Morata had stayed on the pitch, it quite easily could’ve finished as a draw against Manchester City.”
