Chelsea will host Arsenal on Sunday at Stamford Bridge and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has played down the effects of playing on Thursday nights in the Europa League this season ahead of this weekend’s derby clash.
Chelsea will have an extra two days to prepare for the contest, but Wenger has told his players he does not expect it to make a big difference.
“Yes. It’s a good opportunity to show we can do it (juggle the Europa League with the Premier League),” Wenger said.
“We played on Wednesday night at Barcelona and then Saturday morning at Everton (the season before last) and we won.
“You have to not get caught in your mind with preconceived ideas. Football is down to performance on the day.
“In three days you can recover.”
While Chelsea defeated Qarabag on Tuesday, Arsenal will face Cologne two days before Sunday’s derby game.
