Chelsea defeated Tottenham on Sunday thanks to a brace from Marcos Alonso. Here are 14 important statistics from the game that you should know

1. We were defensively sound and made plenty of interceptions (nine), clearances (39) and blocks (22).

2. Andreas Christensen made a game-high eight successful clearances, closely followed by Cesar Azpilicueta with seven. Tiemoue Bakayoko, like Christensen making his first league start for the club, was responsible for the most interceptions of anyone in blue.

3. N’Golo Kante was successful with six tackles, the most by anyone on the pitch, and David Luiz was next with five.

4. Christensen completed 100 per cent of his 16 passes, and Willian was responsible for a game-high three key passes. Marcos Alonso, Azpilicueta and Kante made the most overall.

5. We had nine attempts. Nobody had more than Alvaro Morata’s four. Alonso scored with both of his, and our, efforts on target.

6. Tottenham’s 18 efforts were split equally between on target, off target and blocked. Harry Kane had eight of their attempts. Overall, 10 were from outside the box, and seven stemmed from set pieces.

7. Victor Moses was our best dribbler, successful with all three take-ons he attempted. Morata won four of his five aerial duels, meanwhile.

8. The victory ended Tottenham’s 19-game home unbeaten league run and inflicted their seventh defeat in their last nine matches at the national stadium, four of them to Chelsea.

9. Alonso has scored two direct free-kicks in the Premier League since the start of last season, with only Philippe Coutinho (three) scoring more.

10. Since the start of last season, no Chelsea player has scored more Premier League braces than Alonso (two, level with Diego Costa and Eden Hazard).

11. Pedro has assisted a goal in three of his last four Premier League substitute appearances.

12. The last four goals Spurs have conceded from outside the box in all competitions have all been scored by Chelsea.

13. We have never lost when we have been leading at half-time under Antonio Conte in the Premier League (W20 D2).

14. It the first time in his 50 games in charge of the Blues that Conte did not use all three substitutes.
