Chelsea are edging closer in the move to sign Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayako. The 22-year-old had a wonderful season for the French champions and was a key player in Monaco’s surprising campaign in the Premier League and Champions League.
The Blues are the favourites to sign Monaco ace Tiemoue Bakayoko, according to bookies Betway.
Betway spokesman Alan Alger said: “Tiemoue Bakayoko has attracted the interest of several top European clubs already this summer, with Chelsea emerging as the latest suitor.
“We make the Blues 4/7 favourites to sign the midfielder as they prepare to defend their Premier League title.
“However, Monaco will be in no mood to lose the services of their star midfielder and we offer 2/1 for him to stay at the club this summer.”
However, a recent report by French media outlet L’Equipe claims Chelsea might shelve plans to sign Bakayako this summer because of the frustrating acts of the intermediaries involved in the deal. According to the report, Chelsea are getting frustrated with negotiations for the midfielder because of the number of intermediaries in the deal.
Chelsea have reportedly been in talks with the Frenchman for months now but intermediaries connected to Bakayoko are prolonging negotiations.
