Chelsea play Sunderland at the Stadium of Light tomorrow, and it’s a game between a title contender and a team in relegation battle.
Chelsea legend Pat Nevin wrote in his column for the official Chelsea website that he wants 3 points, a clean sheet, as well as slip-ups for fellow title contenders.
He wrote: “So tomorrow’s fixture at Sunderland is vitally important. Moysie’s men have struggled this season but with no expectation on them for this one, they might just relax a bit. Calm teams are often improved teams. With all our nearest challengers in the league likely to improve and do so pretty soon, a nice little cushion wouldn’t be a bad thing coming into the New Year.
“Sunderland have managed to scrape together nine points from the last 15 available which is very good going for a team at the bottom of the league. It may well be that Davie Moyes finally has a handle on the capabilities of the squad, and without making them world beaters he is getting the best out of them now and again”.
“So what do we want? A win, a clean sheet, no yellow card for Diego, at least one of the challengers to slip up and for people to stop saying silly things like Chelsea should be docked points. That actually began to sound very much like a wish list to Santa for a moment there.”
