Former Chelsea winger Boudewijn Zenden, who enjoyed stints as both a player and coach at Stamford Bridge, under Rafa Benitez, believes that the game against Middlesbrough on Sunday will be a tough one for the Blues.

“Middlesbrough drew at the Emirates against Arsenal and then again at Man City,” says Zenden.

“In the first half of that game they had their backs against the wall but in football you never know and they got their goal right at the end.

“It will be a tough game for Chelsea because the Middlesbrough players will be up for it and they will have the crowd right behind them. It’s never easy to play against a newly-promoted team.”

The Dutchman arrived Chelsea from Barcelona back in the 2001/2002 season, and he made his Chelsea debut alongside Frank Lampard, Emmanuel Petit and William Gallas – when we faced Newcastle United on the opening day of the 2001/02 season. He scored Chelsea’s only goal in the 1-1 draw.

Zenden then moved to the Riverside Stadium on loan for the 2003/04 campaign and impressed very well while playing in a central midfield role, that the deal was then made permanent.

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
