Mikel John Obi is Chelsea’s second longest serving player. He signed for Chelsea from Lyn Oslo in 2006 but is set to leave Chelsea this summer after Chelsea refused to renew his contract which is due to expire in the summer.
According to Daily Mirror, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is reportedly set to replace Mikel Obi with PSG midfielder and Italy international Marco Verratti as Conte seeks to boost Chelsea’s strength in the midfield.
Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Verratti but Conte is set to rival Manchester United for the 24-year-old and will have the backing of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich. Conte is reportedly monitoring Verratti’s situation at PSG.
Verratti signed a new contract in August but his agent, Donato Di Campli has refused to rule out an exit for the midfielder.
“The contracts are made and unmade in three minutes. We’ll see PSG’s aims, Marco is happy to be there, but he wants to win something important. He can not stay in a team that does not win,” Campli said.
